Sara Horn
Head Coach


Sara Horn is looking forward to her first year as head coach of the Iowa Central volleyball program as well as adding some stability to a program that as seen three head coaches in as many years.

“I’m really excited about this opportunity to be at a great school like Iowa Central,” said coach Horn. “This school has really competitive athletic programs and is in a great conference. With the support of the school, administration and community, I know we have the potential to do great things.”

Horn, a Lincoln, Neb., native, has enjoyed a successful volleyball career both on and off the court. As a player, she won an NCAA Division I National Championship while at the University of Nebraska in 2000. As a coach, Horn got her start as a JV coach at her former high school, Lincoln Northeast. From there, Horn took the assistant coach job at Wayne State College in Nebraska, a spot she held for three years. In that time the program had records of 25-10, 30-8 and 24-12. Last year Horn was the head coach at Millard North High School in Omaha, Neb. She led Millard North to a 24-8 record.

Horn’s husband, Guy Horn, will also work at Iowa Central as an athletic trainer.

Horn’s education includes a Bachelor’ of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska in 2004 and a Master’s Degree in Sport Management from Wayne State College in 2008.

John Johnson
Assistant Coach
   
John Johnson is in his 8th year overall as an assistant for the Tritons.  He brings with him a wealth of knowledge of the conference as well as over 20 years of coaching and playing experience.  John has travelled all over the Midwest playing club volleyball and was a member of the 1998 collegiate/club volleyball team at Graceland University.  He has coached many high school and club teams and has had a number of kids go on to play volleyball at the next level, many of them from right here at Iowa Central.  Coach Johnson is currently the club director for SpikeForce Volleyball in Fort Dodge as well as a member of the Pacesetter Volleyball Camps coaching staff. 

John is a graduate of Iowa Central and is a second generation Iowa Central employee.  His father, Charles, is a retired Iowa Central English Professor, and his mother, Marilyn, has just retired from the college bookstore.  He resides in Fort Dodge with his wife, Lindsey.


Lacee Silvey
Assistant Coach


Coach Silvey will be making her collegiate coaching debut as she joins the Triton staff this year. Silvey originates from Iowa Falls, Iowa, where she played as part of a very successful high school program. Following her high school career, she went on to play for Ellsworth Community College, also in Iowa Falls. Lacee graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies. While in college, she coached multiple seasons of AAU Volleyball for high school girls in the Iowa Falls area.
 
Silvey spent the last three years working in retail management but has always aspired to coach. She recently moved to the Fort Dodge area to live with her boyfriend and is very excited about the opportunity to be a part of the program and Coach Horn's staff. Her specialties include the outside hitter position and the serving game. Lacee will also work as an Assistant Housing Director in the Iowa Central housing office.
